Are you trying to record a video for a customer, but feel a little awkward?
I get it. I've been there.
Seeing yourself on camera for the first time can be intimidating. But, I promise you, it will get easier with practice. You’ll be a video rockstar in no time.
Remember, like all things, practice makes perfect!
Whether you’re reaching out for Sales, Customer Success, or Marketing, video is a must.
Why?
The fact is, even if you don’t like seeing your own face on screen, everyone else loves that personal touch!
So it’s time to face the music and start putting yourself out there!
Find somewhere quiet where you can be alone for your first few takes. Don’t worry about what you’ll be saying just yet - you’re just trying to loosen up!
Making a mistake is one of the biggest things that holds beginners back from recording their first video.
If you stumble over a few of your words, or maybe your dog barked in the background, just roll with it and leave it in! These small imperfections will make you more relatable!
Remember…
Have fun with your recordings, and let your personality shine through. Remember there’s a human on the other side watching your video. Be personable and deliver your message! They’ll love it.
When recording a video for a customer or prospect you always want to introduce yourself. Who you are, what you do and what company you’re representing.
You’ll also want to think about what your “ask” is for the end of the video, to guide them to their next step.
Write down a few bullet points to touch on, and what your ask is. Go over them a couple times aloud, and try your first take!
Your video should include:
One more thing… you won’t always get your video in one take and doing a couple takes is completely normal, but keep in mind if you’re on your 10th or 15th take, you’re probably overthinking it. Choose your best one and send it!
Seeing yourself when you are first recording can cause a little anxiety. To ease into things I suggest start with screen recording when reading your first videos.
You don’t even need to show your face; you can do screen only and just do a voice over your screen!
Install the Sendspark Chrome Extension to easily record your screen.
You may not be ready to send videos to your customers and prospects just yet, and that's ok!
Try making a video or two for your teammates to get used to the process. You can have fun with this, or record a real video for them, they’ll love it either way!
Push yourself out of your comfort zone and get recording today and happy recording!
